QRS Agency

Members of our Company have been granted a license by the Pennsylvania Department of Health at the QRS (Quick Response Service) level. A QRS is a non-transporting level of EMS. An EMS agency operating a QRS uses EMS providers to respond to calls for EMS and provide EMS to patients before an ambulance arrives. One of the best benefits of having this certification is being able to perform live-saving interventions as quick and efficient as possible. Our team of professionals that are certified have the tools available to immediately intervene in any airway obstructions, external bleeding control, and begin basic treatment for a cardiac arrest situation (including chest compressions and cardiac defibrillation).

Our agency is currently staffed with 2 Paramedics, 1 Advanced EMT, 6 EMTs, and 3 EMSVOs

What is the difference in certification level? 

An Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) is an individual who can stabilize and improve a patient’s condition until a higher level EMS provider arrives at the scene. While this is the lowest level of EMS provider certification, the interventions this level can provide has the ability to intervene with life-saving maneuvers such as CPR, assisting with ventilations (or breathing for the patient), and bleeding control. 

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an individual trained to provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. EMTs function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight.

An Advanced EMT (AEMT) is an individual trained to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation.

A Paramedic is allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation.
